ArabLab, the Expo, the MENA and CIS regions' leading trade fair for lab equipment industry received more than 7,400 trade visitors and industry professionals from 75 countries, and witnessed transactions worth millions of dollars for exhibitors. The four-day exhibition, which concluded on Thursday, February 3, 2005, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre saw more than 500 exhibitors from over 60 countries showcase the latest technological innovations in the global lab and biotech industry.
"We are overwhelmed by the success of this edition of ArabLab, the Expo, as it attracted an extensive profile of exhibitors and visitors representing all sections of the laboratory and instrumentation industry," said David Domoney, Managing Director of The Domus Group, the show's organisers. "We had exhibitors and industry professionals from Germany, the U.K, France, Spain, Austria and other countries from Asia, Europe and USA who were looking forward to the show to advance their scientific and technology base in the Middle East."
Arab Lab, the Expo provided the stage for numerous new technology and software launches, the most prominent among them being Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (Dubiotech).
"We have received overwhelming response from visitors since the launch of Dubiotech on the second day of the show. Dubiotech will be the regional center of excellence for biotechnology providing support to biotech and pharmaceutical companies across the Middle East and beyond, and we were delighted to use ArabLab as a launchpad to announce our presence," said Dr. Abdulqader Alkhayat, Executive Director, Dubiotech.
The growth in the regional biotechnology field also led Loba Chemie, a leading biotech company from India to participate at the show, "We are using our presence at the show to introduce a new range of molecular biology grade products," said Nikhil Shah of Loba Chemie.
The show also saw several exhibitors from the instrumentation industry. B.K. Sohail, Vice-President, International Commercial Operations, Thermo Electronic Corporation said, "We are regular exhibitors at ArabLab, and this year marked our largest presence ever at the show. We showcased a wide range of products and literature for lab industry professionals and biology students. We mainly targeted government agencies, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies this year. The Department of Health in Dubai,, who has been our regular client for sometime now, showed a lot of interest in our new products."
"We have participated at ArabLab since the inception of the show, as it attracts the right profile of visitors from across the region. We have received positive interest from clients in Saudi and Oman. The show has consolidated its position as a platform for the lab industry to meet, network and view the latest trends," commented Stephan Doherty, Manager, RIQAS from Randox.

Said Gunter Klann, of Jurgen Scientific, one of the exhibitors at the show, "We have been participating at ArabLab for the past five years, and are very happy with the profile of visitors this year. The 13th Arab Lab registered strong participation from Austria, France, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the UAE, the UK and the USA. "Exhibitors regard ArabLab now as one of the most influential and important industry events in the world. This show this year was sold out and in order to satisfy exhibitors' demand, The DOMUS GROUP will be doubling the size of the event next year to cater to the increased demand in the field of Biotechnology," added Domoney. ArabLab, the Expo 2006 will be held from February 13 to 16, 2006.
