Ariane launch of Turkish satellite delayed

The launch Ariane space rocket, which is to put a Turkish telecommunications satellite into orbit, has been delayed for several days for a check of the rocket's heat protection, Arianespace said Wednesday.

The launch of flight 137 had been programmed for Friday, but will now be pushed into sometime early next week, an Arianespace spokesman said.

He added that the checks had to be made on a part of the rocket that would protect the Eurasiasat 1 satellite as it passed through the atmosphere at high speed. — (AFP, Paris)
