Australia’s Novus Petroleum reported that its Tibat-1 exploration well in Oman's Block 8 has undergone drill stem testing of the deeper (Thamama) reservoir. The well was opened for flow of gas and condensate to surface, which was flared. The commercial significance of these results has yet to be evaluated.
Whilst the flow was not stabilized and it is believed that the well is still cleaning up, preliminary rates between 8-11 million cubic feet of gas/day were recorded. The well is now shut in to run a production-logging tool, after which the further testing program will be decided.
The well was drilled on a gas condensate target similar to the Novus operated Bukha gas condensate field and near producing infrastructure with an accessible gas market.
The Tibat-1 is operated by Novus Petroleum, which holds a 40 percent interest in the project. Atlantis Holding Norway holds another 25 percent; Eagle Energy Oman Limited holds a 10 percent stake and LG International Corporation the remaining 25 percent. — (menareport.com)
