Speaking to the Black Sea Press Agency, the President of SOCAR, Natik Aliev, said that talks regarding the export of gas from Azerbaijan to Turkey are currently being held, with some of the differences having been settled already.
According to Aliev, for Azerbaijan, the optimal amount of gas to be exported in the first stage is 2.4 billion cubic meters per annum. Later on, the plan is to raise this quantity by 2 billion cubic meters per annum, reaching 16 billion cubic meters at the final stages.
Regarding the transit of gas to Turkey, the president stated that no negotiations have been held with Georgia as yet, adding that no problems are expected and the agreement anticipated will be similar to that which is prevalent along the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline.
The gas will be sold to Turkey at world prices, although he did not rule out the possibility of certain price reductions. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
