Representatives of the Arab and Asian insurance industry are set to arrive in Bahrain for the 45th annual meeting of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers & Reinsurers (FAIR) Executive Committee and sub-committees.
The three-day event, being held from 23rd to 25th September 2004 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, will include meetings of the FAIR Reinsurance Forum (FRF), FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate and the FAIR Oil & Energy Underwriters Forum (FOEUF).
The event is sponsored by the Bahrain Monetary Agency (BMA), Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), Arab Insurance Group (ARIG) and Trust International.
It is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Governor of the BMA.
The plenary session of the FAIR Executive Committee, on Thursday, 23rd September.
On Friday, 24th September, Shaikh Ahmed will deliver a welcome speech at 9.30am, followed by a presentation by Mr. Anwar Khalifa Al Sadah, Executive Director, Financial Institutions Supervision, at the BMA.
The official opening session will be followed by bilateral meetings among FAIR members, on Friday and Saturday, 25th September.
A meeting of the Technical Board of the FAIR Oil & Energy Insurance Syndicate will be held on 24th September, at 5pm, while a general assembly meeting of the syndicate is scheduled for 25th September at 11am.
“We are delighted to host this prestigious event for the first time in Bahrain,” said Mr. Al Sadah.
It will be attended by more than 120 delegates from than 25 countries, including Bahrain, Algeria, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and the UAE.
FAIR was established in September 1964, to promote cooperation among insurance and reinsurance companies in Africa and Asia, through the regular exchange of information, expertise and the development of reinsurance relations. Its current membership comprises 179 companies.
