Deputy Mohammed Al Shaikh’s proposal to consider Bahrain’s islands as public property for the establishment of housing projects on them was approved on Tuesday by the Chamber of Deputies.
Accordng to the Bahrain Tribune, the proposal was accepted as an extra recommendation of a proposal by the Speaker Khalifa Al Dahrani for beautifying the Kingdom’s coastline, shores and touristic islands.
Al Shaikh had been calling for the end of the privatisation of islands. According to Al Shaikh, the proposal could solve the growing housing problem.
