The 25th anniversary of one of Bahrain’s oldest banks kicked off on Saturday with a VIP commemoration of TAIB Tower, the new headquarters building of TAIB Bank.
The Governor of the Bahrain Monetary Agency, Shaikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, led the inaugural ceremony at TAIB’s stylish foyer in Manama’s Diplomatic Area.
TAIB was the first investment bank to open in Bahrain in 1979 and is one of the region’s first private banks specialized in wealth management. It is listed on the Bahrain Stock Exchange. It now conducts business throughout the Gulf from its new building as well as from offices in New York, London, Mumbai, Bangalore, Istanbul,.and Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Speaking at the dedication ceremony of the building, TAIB’s Vice Chairman and CEO Iqbal G. Mamdani voiced pride and satisfaction: “I am extremely proud that Shaikh Ahmed agreed to undertake the official commemoration of our 25th year in Bahrain with the inauguration of our new Tower.”
“Since its founding,” the Chief Executive added, “TAIB has become one of the region’s strong, pre-eminent niche banks, evolving in tandem with the growth of Bahrain as a financial market. We place great store in the strength of the Bahrain market and the strong leadership of the Bahrain Monetary Agency, which is responsible for the sturdy regulatory environment in which we have been able to flourish and grow.”
TAIB’s office complex also reflects the bank’s highly positive outlook on the Kingdom’s future. “Our building is far more than a business home”, CEO Mamdani observed. “It is, by design and location, a symbol of our values, vision, and commitment to the region.”
TAIB Tower’s exterior design was created by one of Bahrain’s leading architects, Ahmed Janahi, the force behind many of Bahrain’s landmark structures including the Bahrain Financial Harbour.
The 15-storey building was completed in May, 2003 by main contractor G. P. Zachariades (Overseas) Ltd. The Tower’s interior was created by interior specialists Leigh & Orange, a group based in Hong Kong renown for dramatic interior design.
Following the inauguration ceremony, the Bank began its celebration of 25 years of business activity with a series of seminars, workshops, and receptions. Three seminars organized by the bank bring together 16 high-level guest speakers from around the world. The three seminars specifically focus on technology innovations, real estate opportunities, and women’s career advancement. One of the most popular is Sunday’s seminar on Gulf women in business, which explores the business challenges and opportunities for Arab women in the Gulf today.
More than 500 delegates are expected to attend the three seminars, which are being held in the Crowne Plaza Hotel Conference Center. (menareport.com)
