Bahrain: Boost for housing sector

Three of Bahrain's banks Monday night inked an agreement with a semi independent financial body to lend the government BD100 million, to help cut the waiting list for housing.

The loan, to be repaid over five years, involves the National Bank of Bahrain, Ahli United Bank, BBK and the public-private run Eskan Bank, the GDN reported. More than 1,000 people on housing waiting lists are expected to benefit from highly-subsidised loan rates under the scheme.
