Bahrain's Civil Services Bureau (CSB) recently announced the launch of a government project to manage all of Bahrain's public sector employees via an Internet-based human resources system. This initiative promises to be the first and most comprehensive current government project of its kind in the Middle East.
The State government will utilize Oracle's Human Resources Management System, to obtain real-time information on employee head-counts, labor costs and deployment across more than 19 public ministries in Bahrain.
Once the system is installed, 31,000 public sector employees will have online access to key human resource functions, including payroll, hiring, employee profiling, updating personal information, and training administration.
Sheikh Daij Bin Khalifa Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa, head of Bahrain's CSB and Minister of Electricity and Water, announced: "The unified management of Bahrain's public workforce is critical to our transition as a more centralized and effective government. Oracle's human resources solution will allow all the Bahraini ministries to hire, train, assess and deploy the best employees, while cutting costs and improving efficiency."
A predominant benefit of Bahrain's Oracle HRMS solution will be an increase in employee self-service to payroll, training and benefits information through the Internet. The government will retain control over information and ensures that each ministry complies with all common policies.
"The Bahraini government is the largest single employer in the country, and this human resources government initiative will enable Bahrain to optimize the skills of its entire workforce," conveyed Husam Dajani, managing director of Oracle Middle East.
Last month, the Bahraini government successfully installed Oracle Financials solution. The two Oracle solutions are fully integrated and together will allow the Bahraini ministries just-in-time reporting and analysis of both its human resources and financial status across the entire government.
"Bahrain leads many other countries in the world in its deployment of unified, government-wide systems that provide the entire public sector with the necessary operational and business intelligence support.
