Thousands of Bahraini families may soon buy their own homes with low-interest bank loans. According to GDN, the government's Housing Bank will guarantee mortgages handed out by commercial banks if a scheme backed by parliament yesterday goes ahead.
It will open the door for thousands of families who currently cannot afford mortgages from commercial banks, the report added.
