The initial budget to restore and preserve 500 old houses in Manama and Muharraq will amount to BD2 million. The project will be carried out by April, after a survey of all houses in the two governorates, said the Project Director of Conservation of Traditional Buildings, Dr Falah Al Kubaisy from the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
“The pilot project starts from Manama and Muharraq heritage sites and covers the Central, Southern and Northern areas. The project will take five to 10 years to complete,” he said, according to the Bahrain Tribune.
