The Bahrain Stock Exchange (BSE) index for July closed at 1,990.93 points, marking an increase of 37.50 points above last month’s closing index. Results indicated that 1,121 transactions took place with a volume of 24,789,322 shares worth 6.192 million Bahraini dinars ($16.42 million).
Out of 44 companies listed on the stock exchange, 31 were active, with a percentage of 70 percent divided on five companies in the Commercial Bank Sector, six companies in the Investment Sector, four in the Insurance Sector, seven in the Service Sector, two in the Industrial Sector, four in the Hotel and Tourism Sector, two in the Non–Bahraini Comapnies Sector.
A total of 21 companies posted an increase in share prices, six companies suffered a decrease in share prices, with the rest of the companies’ prices remaining stable. The Commercial Banks Sector, the Services Sector and the Investment Sector Company were registered as the most of the month’s activities.
In the Commercial Banks Sector the value of shares traded totaled BD2.709 million or 44 percent of the total value of shares traded in July. The volume of shares traded reached 13,962,708 constituting 56 percent of the volume of shares traded. The actual number of transactions performed by investors in this sector totaled 357 or 32 percent of the total number of shares traded.
In the Services Sector, the value of shares traded totaled BD2.212 million or 36 percent of the total value of shares traded in July. The volume of shares traded reached 3,864,400 constituting 16 percent of the volume of shares traded. The actual number of transactions performed by investors in this sector totaled 503, representing 45 percent of the total number of shares traded.
In the Investment Sector, the value of shares traded totaled BD624,064, representing 10 percent of the total value of shares traded in July. The volume of shares traded reached 3,950,677 or 16 percent of the volume of shares traded. The actual number of transactions performed by investors in this sector totaled 74 or seven percent of the total number of shares traded.
Ahli United Bank, Bahrain Telecommunication Company, National Import & Export Company emerged as the most active companies for July. Ahli United Bank led the market with a total value of BD1.563 million representing 25 percent of the total quantity of shares traded. The volume of shares traded reached 11,699,266 or 47 percent of total shares traded.
The value of shares traded in Batelco was BD979,468, representing 16 percent of the total quantity of shares traded. The volume of shares traded closed at 1,641,982 or seven percent of the total shares traded in July.
National Import & Export Company followed with a total value of BD688,561 or 11 percent out of the total value of shares traded. The volume of shares traded reached 1,035,773 representing four percent of the total traded shares.
Based on 23 trading days, the approximate daily average value of trading was BD269,225. The daily average volume was 1,077,797 with daily average transactions of 49. — (menareport.com)
