83 privately owned plots have been removed from a list of lands to be purchased by the government for a BD98 million new town south of Salmabad. According to the GDN, a decision to include only 34 plots after repeated protests by owners that they were being compensated unfairly was taken by Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Minister Ali Saleh Al Saleh.
The ministry had handed over all plots to the Works and Housing Ministry after surveying, but it reconsidered its decision following directives from King Hamad.
