Batelco Jordan has installed WiFi hotspots across Jordan in a bid to provide the general public with speedy and efficient connections in various outdoor and indoor locations around the Kingdom.

WiFi hotspots are locations with public wireless access points where customers can connect to their mobile computers (laptops and PDAs) to the internet.

“The WiFi hotspots have been placed, so far, in 11 key locations including top universities across the Kingdom such as Irbid University, Amman Arab University, Isra University, UN University and Depaul University,” said CEO of Batelco Jordan, Mr. Marwan Juma’a.

“Meanwhile, we have also installed hotspots in various restaurants and frequented venues such as Burger King, Apple Bees, Whispers restaurant, Wild Jordan and Donuts Factory,” he added.

Mr. Juma’a also emphasized that “Health buffs visiting Power Hut and First Gym can also benefit from the free of charge internet WiFi access.” “It is a great accomplishment for us at Batelco Jordan to be able to give a mass group of people access to the World Wide Web. Universities are especially important as the internet offers a gateway to information for the upcoming work force of Jordan,” said Batelco CEO, Marwan Juma’a.

“There is something to say on being passionate about connecting the Kingdom through IT technology and at Batelco Jordan we see this as one of our primary objectives,” he added.

Swedish Aptilo Networks has entered into an agreement with Bahrain Telecom¬muni¬cations Company (Batelco) to deliver infrastructure that will serve as a foundation for a new WiFi network with hot spots in Jordan. The system will be monitored and managed from Batelco's headquarters in Bahrain.

Last year Bahrain became the fourth country in the Middle East to install Aptilo Network’s public WLAN Service Management Platform for administration of hot spots in Bahrain.

Batelco was one of the first telecom operators in the world to fully integrate a mobile telephony backend system for flexible authentication of users,” said Jan Sjönell, VP Sales & Marketing Aptilo Networks. "We are of course delighted over Batelco’s decision to broaden their collaboration with us as they are extending their reach into new markets".

Aptilo's solution has worked impeccable during it time it been up-and-running in Bahrain, so we are now looking forward to base our expansion into Jordan on a continued cooperation with them", said Mr. Juma’a.
