BEA Systems, a world leader in application infrastructure software and major player in Middle East telecoms, has announced the acquisition of Incomit, a privately held Swedish infrastructure software provider to the telecommunications industry.

Incomit, BEA’s fifth acquisition in the past two years, is designed to consolidate BEA’s leadership in the telecoms industry by providing key technologies to augment the BEA WebLogic Service Delivery Platform, BEA’s telecommunications solution framework.

“BEA solutions are installed in almost all telecoms providers in the Middle East region, and the acquisition of Incomit strengthens our ability to help our telecoms customers successfully transform their businesses to meet the increasing demands of the industry,” said Diyaa Zebian, Regional Manager, Middle East and Egypt, eSolutions BEA.

“Local telecoms industry players are altering their business models to become providers of a variety of data services such as email, calendaring, games, and a wide variety of digital content. With Incomit’s expertise, BEA will expand the BEA WebLogic Service Delivery Platform to give our customers the competitive edge in the emerging telecoms marketplace,” added Zebian.

While BEA has long been a leader in software for the global telecommunications industry, it is also a significant player in the Middle East. All of the Global 50 telecom operators run portions of their OSS (Operational Support Systems) business on BEA.

With BEA WebLogic Service Delivery Platform, the company is now responding to telecom customers’ demands for broader product offerings to assist them in the creation, delivery and management of new converged services for next-generation telecom networks.
