Media Generation Events Ltd. and Pinnacle Communications signed an agreement to jointly promote Stadia & Arena InfraSport 2003 Exhibition in the Middle East region. The event will take place at the China World Trade Center from January 22-24, 2003. The exhibition is designed to assist in the development of infrastructure for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The exhibition enjoys the official approval of key Beijing institutions, including Beijing Municipality, Beijing Municipal City Planning Commission, Beijing Urban Planning Society and Beijing Olympics New Technology Promotion Committee. Together, and in conjunction with the Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee (BOCOG) in which they are all represented, these institutions are responsible for setting the stage for the best Olympics ever.
“The $23.8 billion budget for the 2008 Games is the biggest in Olympic history. It is seven times the budget of the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the infrastructure activity it will generate is second only to the building of the Great Wall of China in terms of magnitude and commitment,” said Mark Beaumont, business development director of the UK-based Media Generation Events Ltd., organizers of Stadia & Arena InfraSport 2003.
“Out of the $23.8 billion, $11 billion will be used in the construction of the metro, intra-city light railway, highways and the international airport so as to build a fast, efficient traffic network in Beijing; $5.5 billion will be used for environmental projects; $3.7 billion in development of a high-tech “digital Beijing”; $1.3 billion for the construction of a state-of-the-art “Olympic Green” and 37 competition venues; $0.5 billion for games operations; and the remaining $1.8 billion will be used in the construction and renovation of public utilities – water, electricity and gas.”
“China is committed to offering a level-playing field to foreign and international companies in the race for Olympic contracts. This commitment from Beijing has met with an overwhelming response from international companies and trade promotion bodies from all over the world. Amidst this heightened level of global interest, Stadia & Arena InfraSport 2003 is uniquely placed to assist international companies to showcase their capabilities directly to those responsible for specifying and buying services, materials and equipment for the Olympic projects.”
“By participating in Stadia & Arena InfraSport 2003, suitably qualified international companies will be able to learn about many exciting opportunities associated with the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, investigate the potential for their products and services in the broader Chinese market and identify potential Chinese partners with the view to bidding for, and securing, lucrative contracts.”
“For Middle East companies, the Beijing Olympics offer an unprecedented export opening,” said Syed Faisal Abbas, CEO of Bahrain-based Pinnacle Communications. “Companies supplying building materials, such as steel, aluminium and architectural fabrics, construction services, civil engineering, clean energy, Information Technology (IT) and telecom services, transportation, insurance and reinsurance, water and waste water technology, cleaning equipment, access control, security, ticketing, data capture technologies, cables, lighting solutions, visual communications, air-conditioning/heating, catering, facilities management and tourism services will find tremendous opportunities in Beijing.” — (menareport.com)
