Bergmettall International, a leading global water production company, has signed an agreement with Dubai Techno Park, the largest technological hub in the Middle East, to set up its new water production facility at the Park at an initial investment cost of AED 10 million.

The fist stage of the project will include two production lines for porous hose, in addition to an office building that accommodates the administration, sales, and Research & Development sections. Bergmettall has also announced plans to expand the 100,000-square feet facility in 2007, towards which it will be investing a further AED 20 million.

Wilfried Mayer, Bergmettall, said, "As our expansion strategy assigns significant focus on the Middle East, we were looking for an ideal location from which to cater to the water requirements of the region. Techno Park has a high concentration of top-class companies involved in the field of water and environmental resources, which greatly influenced our decision to set up our factory there. In addition to this, the excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities offered by the Park will help us gain a competitive edge."

"The advanced technology provided by the Bergmettall system guarantees an optimum supply of water, with zero per cent water loss. We have evolved a unique technique to collect moisture out of the atmosphere, which uses only wind and solar energy to produce huge amounts of pure water. This state-of-the-art system will help transform the desert into green and fertile areas," Mayer added.

"Bergmettall's decision to open its new facility at Techno Park further highlights the growing reputation of the Park among the regional and international business community. The Park's enabling business environment will allow Bergmettall to effectively leverage its innovative technology to cater to the needs of the Middle East region, which faces an acute water shortage," said Abdullah Ahmed Al Quraishi, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Techno Park.

Being developed as a business and industrial hub, Dubai Techno Park is the first technology park of its kind in the Middle East. The Park's new economic zone provides attractive incentives, world-class infrastructure and one-window service clearance. Dubai Techno Park brings with it the backing of the Government of Dubai as well as many private and semi-private organizations.
