Bitcoin soared 12% to hit record high exceeding $23,000 on Thursday.
The world’s most-valuable digital currency was last trading at $23,421, according to Coin Metrics, taking its year-to-date gains to more than 200%.
It's worth mentioning that bitcoin reached $20,398.50 on Wednesday before pulling back to $20,145, which was still an intra-day gain of nearly four per cent.
