The Egyptian authorities arrested Agriculture Minister Salah al-Din Helal over corruption charges on Monday, an Administrative Control source told Aswat Masriya.

Helal tendered his resignation earlier on Monday to Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb and it was accepted.

His resignation came after a public prosecutor's decision to ban publishing in a case of high ranking officials receiving financial bribes.
