Software industry watchdog congratulates Kuwait on the creation of a joint task force between the ministries of information and interior, and the municipality to fight piracy.
The Business Software Alliance (BSA) has announced its support for the decision to create a joint task force between the Ministry Of Information and the Kuwait Municipality to fight copyright violations throughout the country with the support of the Ministry Of Interior.
The BSA’s regional director, Jawad Al-Redha, welcomed this announcement during a meeting held at the Ministry Of Information last week with the acting director of the Intellectual Property department, Manal Al Baghdadi. This announcement follows a series of measures that were taken in recent weeks against users and traders of illegal software.
Earlier this summer, a group of Kuwaiti companies from different market sectors announced their concern over the spread of pirate activities in the country, especially where music, film and software are concerned.
The Business Software Alliance is an international organization representing software and e-commerce developers in 65 countries around the world. Established in 1988, BSA has offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia. As the voice of the software industry, the BSA helps governments and consumers understand how software strengthens the economy, worker productivity and global development; and how its further expansion hinges on
the successful fight against software piracy and Internet theft. — (menareport.com)
