Cairo’s exchange focuses on blue-chip stocks

On Tuesday, March 21, the market continued its recovery initiated earlier in the week. Investors focused on blue-chip shares. Helwan Cement (HELW. CA) gained 1.07 percent to close at 

LE42.49. Eastern Tobacco (EAST.CA) surged nearly limit up to LE50.51. 


Telecoms continued their comeback, as MobiNiL (EMOB.CA) climbed 4.46 percent to LE63.20 and Orascom Telecom –OT (ORTE.CA) surged 4.40 percent to finish at LE30.61. Other blue-chip shares moved into positive territory.  


Orascom Construction Industries –OCI (OCIC.CA) surged 4.73 percent to LE34.13. Nasr City Housing & Development (MNHD. CA) rose 4.02 percent to LE24.06. Commercial International Bank –CIB (COMI.CA) closed 1.7 percent higher at LE34.12.  


Overall, the PAMI rose 2.95 percent to 6,641.7 while the PIPO moved 2.13 percent higher to 1,674.9.
