Electrohome's subsidiary, Robotel Electronique of Montreal announced that a letter of intent was just signed with senior officials of the Algerian government for the purchase of three to four million Canadian dollars ($2.6 million) of Robotel products over a four year period commencing in late fiscal 2002.

According to Robotel President, Bouchard, the company’s language lab and distance learning products will be integrated into the Algerian network through collaboration with the Algerian National University of Continuing Education. Robotel will also provide technical support and training, with the objective of providing a transfer of this knowledge to the Algerian educational system.

While preparatory stages for the balance of fiscal 2002 include a small pilot installation, the full-scale implementation will commence in fiscal 2003 and will be staged over a period of four years with Robotel providing product, technical support and training throughout the period.

Electrohome owns a 90 percent interest in Robotel and participates in the rapidly-growing visual communications marketplace as a provider of virtual immersive systems and digital interactive cinema. — (menareport.com)
