Thursday’s market halted its losing streak and gained some ground. The active PAMI index edged up 0.79 percent to 6,346.6, while the PIPO index inched down 0.36 percent.
Telecom companies lead the rise as MobiNiL rose 1.24 percent and Orascom Telecom added 1.90 percent. The housing sector was in the red with Nasr City H&D, Cairo H&D and El Shams H&D all declining: 2.68 percent, 3.57 percent and 4.14 percent, respectively.
Cement stocks were down with Helwan Cement falling 0.86 percent to LE30.97 while Suez Cement remained stable at LE35.90. Companies hitting new lows were Egyptian Electro Cables at LE1.97 and aic at LE1.31.
Medical conglomerate Lakah Group continued to free fall, slipping 4.48 percent to reach a new low of LE0.64.
