The planned causeway connecting Bahrain and Qatar may cost up to $1.8 billion (BD679 million). According to the GDN, initial financial estimates featured in feasibility technical reports are completed, said Bahrain's Works and Housing Minister Fahmi Al Jowder.
The causeway will connect north of Askar village to Qatar's Ras Ashiraj. Bridges will form up to 60 per cent of the project costs while reclamation work will cover 40pc.
