ALBAWABA - Princess Iman bint Abdullah II and her husband, Jameel Alexander Thermiotis, have welcomed twin baby girls, bringing new joy to the Jordanian royal family.
The Royal Hashemite Court announced the birth on Friday, August 14, confirming that Princess Iman and Thermiotis had been blessed with twin daughters. The announcement also extended congratulations to King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah on the arrival of their two new granddaughters.
The Royal Court did not reveal the names of the newborns in its initial announcement. It also did not provide further details about their birth, keeping the focus on the family's happy occasion.
The news was followed by a warm message from Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, who congratulated his younger sister and her husband through Instagram Stories.
“Praise be to God for this great blessing and perfect grace,” the Crown Prince wrote in his message, according to Jordanian media reports.
The arrival of the twins makes Princess Iman a mother of three. She and Thermiotis previously welcomed their first daughter, Amina, on February 16, 2025. The couple now have three daughters together.
Princess Iman, the eldest daughter and second child of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, married Jameel Alexander Thermiotis in March 2023 in a royal wedding held at Beit Al Urdun Palace. The couple's first child arrived almost two years after their wedding.
Queen Rania had previously shared the news of her daughter's latest pregnancy in July. The pregnancy announcement initially revealed that Princess Iman was expecting another child, while the fact that she was carrying twins was not publicly known at the time. The twin birth therefore came as an especially joyful surprise to many followers of the Jordanian royal family.
The new arrivals also add to a growing number of young members of Jordan's royal family. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa are parents to a daughter, Princess Iman bint Al Hussein, who was born in August 2024. The Crown Prince's daughter was named after her paternal aunt, Princess Iman.
For King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, the birth of the twins means two more granddaughters have joined the family. The couple have four children: Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Iman, Princess Salma and Prince Hashem.
The Royal Hashemite Court concluded its announcement with prayers for the newborns, asking that they be a source of happiness for their parents and that they remain under God's protection within their family.
The announcement has since been widely reported across Jordanian and Arab media, with congratulations pouring in for Princess Iman, Jameel Thermiotis and the wider Hashemite family following the arrival of the twin girls.
