Cavotec MSL, the leading supplier of environmentally friendly power solutions, has today announced the opening of its Abu Dhabi office, as part of its ongoing regional expansion. The office is to support its regional presence in the UAE capital and to allow the company to be closer to its partners. Cavotec is also soon planning to open another office in Qatar, as part of its strong commitment to serve the GCC.
Mr. Thomas Widegren, Regional Manager and Executive Chairman of Cavotec Middle East, said: “The opening of a second office in the UAE reflects our determination to be a strong player in the UAE and GCC, this reflects our ongoing quest to provide the regions airports and maritime ports with the most technologically advanced, cost efficient and environmentally friendly solutions."
Cavotec MSL has recently sponsored the A380 touchdown conference that was held in Dubai on November 9-10th, 2007. The Conference was attended by the most influential figures from the world of aviation and discussed the latest developments in the industry. As part of the official sponsorship, Mr. Michael Widegren, Group Vice President and Managing Director of Cavotec Fladung gave a key-note speech at the conference and talked about the challenges and advances that have been made, and are still to be made regarding the A380 project with regards to ground support equipment and their role in minimising negative environmental and economic impact.
It is worthy to note that, Cavotec Middle East has recently installed 120 pop-up units in the new Emirates Engineering hangar at Dubai International Airport. It also fitted similar equipment specially designed for the A380 in Concourse 1 of Dubai Airport and is supplying power and air supply equipment for 27 gates at the new Concourse 2 which was the very first airport to develop dedicated A380 gates by fully integrating Cavotec's pop-up systems for the A380 aircraft.
“The recent expansion into the new Abu Dhabi office solidifies Cavotec’s commitments to the region, the Abu Dhabi office will work in line with our Dubai operations, helping us be closer to our partners and provide them with the best in technology,” said Mr. Poul Nielsen, General Manager of Cavotec Abu Dhabi.
Besides a large range of ground support equipment which includes systems such as pop-up and hatch type pits, towbars, aircraft connectors and cable coils, a substantial amount of the company’s focus is directed into finding new efficient and environmentally friendly ways to supply aircraft with essential services while parked at the gate. Recent progress has also been made in the development of the PCA Caddy. This unit stands to revolutionize the manner in which pre-conditioned air (PCA) is supplied to the parked aircraft as it does not need any type of diesel generator. During extensive testing the PCA Caddy has proven itself to be the only unit capable of sufficiently cooling large aircraft, such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A340/A330, in extremely hot climates.
Another important part of the company’s product range is the Tunnel System. This system is based on the concept of providing all necessary services to the aircraft from below the apron tarmac. By connecting through pop-up or hatch type systems positioned close to the aircraft, the remainder of the tarmac is kept totally free for other airport traffic. Furthermore, the proximity of the services means that no time is lost when an aircraft comes in to the gate, thereby reducing even further the expected turnaround time. Another important aspect is of course that no equipment installed within the Tunnel System needs any type of diesel generator, thereby drastically reducing any pollution linked to the servicing of aircraft.
