Engineering firm CB&I has been awarded a lump-sum turnkey contract valued at approximately $50 million to design and construct two additional liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage tanks at a terminal in Qatar.
CB&I's contract is with the consortium of Chiyoda Corporation of Japan, Mitsui & Co. of Japan, Snamprogetti of Italy and Al-Mana Trading of Qatar. The tanks will be used to store condensates recovered from natural gas produced from Qatar's North Field as part of the Dolphin Project, which will supply natural gas by pipeline to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
CB&I's work scope includes the engineering, procurement and construction of two double-wall steel full containment LPG tanks. One tank will store propane and has a capacity of 125,000 cubic meters, while the second tank will store butane and has a capacity of 110,000 cubic meters.
CB&I also will be responsible for the foundations, piping, electrical and instrumentation to grade. The fast-track schedule calls for completion of both tanks 28 months after award.
CB&I is an engineering, procurement and construction company serving customers in several primary end markets, including hydrocarbon refining, natural gas, water and the energy sector in general. The company offers design, engineering, fabrication, procurement, construction and maintenance services. — (menareport.com)
