Cement production in Northern Iraq has begun, however in low quantities. Cement factories in other parts of the country are expected to start production before the year’s end, reported ICR

Market prices for deliveries of more than 1,000 tons of cement in Baghdad amount to $60-65 per ton. Prices for deliveries of 50-100 tons of cement are now at $70-80, while prices for one to10 tons deliveries ranges from $90-100.

For the past five months, 15 cement factories across the country have fought to compete against a flood of foreign imports of cement amidst a severe power crisis and dramatic security concerns, reported Iraq Today.

The situation has opened the opportunity for countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon to enter the Iraqi market with a product inferior to that produced in Iraq. — (menareport.com)
