In a bid to boost the real estate industry in the Middle East, representatives from across the region have created the Dubai-based Middle East Real Estate Society (MERES).

MERES is part of the influential Global Real Estate Societies which is represented in North and South America, Asia, Europe and Africa. The organization’s aims are to encourage research and promote education in real estate markets, improve communication and encourage professionalism in practices related to real estate and associated areas of construction, planning, development and finance.

Sponsors of the launch included Eqarat.com and London South Bank University and the Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina. CEO of Eqarat.com Ali Al-Rahma was voted president of the society and he will serve a two-year term.

“The real estate industry is an integral part of the development of countries’ economies. In Dubai alone, the real estate and construction sectors represent a total of 17 percent of total GDP," said Al-Rahma.

Executive Director at Eqarat.com and appointed Communications Director at MERES Mohammed Safin said "MERES will generate membership from all over the region and the first annual Middle East Real Estate Conference is expected to be next December." — (menareport.com)
