CGG is to conduct a 3D seismic survey in block 10 in Yemen for TotalFinaElf. Operating conditions on the 195 km2 survey are likely to be extremely complicated given the difficulty in accessing this region.
The crew will therefore rely heavily on helicopters and operate with light portable drilling units and the new Sercel 408 recorder. The lightweight of this new system is expected to lead to significant productivity gains on such a large-scale heliportable survey.
The acquisition work is due to take two and a half months and commence in mid-December. CGG currently has three crews operating in Yemen.
