Egypt received its 300-member group of Chinese tourists this week. The troupe began their site-seeing at the Giza Pyramids, the Sphinx and Egypt's National Museum and continued on to the city Alexandria, reported Xinhua.

Egyptian Tourism Minister, Mamdouh Beltagui announced that measures have been taken to make Egypt and ideal vacationing spot for the Chinese. The Tourism Ministry is now translating its information pamphlets into Chinese and has requested that the sound and light crews working at the Pyramids in Cairo, in Luxor and in Aswan incorporate Chinese into their shows.

The Egyptian Tourism Ministry plans to discuss with its Chinese counterparts the possibility of opening an office in Shanghai by the end of the year. Also a priority on the Ministry’s list is to create a direct air connection between Egypt and China.

Last January, The two countries signed a Memo of Understanding (MoU) on implementing plans for arranging visits by groups of Chinese tourists to Egypt during Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's visit to China that month. The World Tourism Organization has predicted that China will be the fourth largest source of tourists by 2020. — (menareport.com)
