Internet networker, Cisco Systems and Dubai Internet City recently announced that businesses and residential customers can now benefit from next-generation Ethernet-based broadband connectivity with speeds from 10Mbps up to Gigabit Ethernet, stated a press release.
Dubai Internet City will offer managed voice, video and data services powered by the Cisco 12400 series Internet Routers, Cisco Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) technology, Dynamic Packet Transport (DPT) and the Cisco 10700 Series Internet Router. Cisco Catalyst 6500 and 4000 series switches provide in-building Ethernet connectivity for the reliable Ethernet service offering.
This new network will allow all organizations relocating to Dubai Internet City to quickly and reliably network their businesses and employees by combining the simplicity of Ethernet connectivity with the power of rich IP services. Each employee within the complex will, as a result, have access to next-generation broadband Internet integrated with advanced telephony and video services.
Dubai Internet City is the first complete information technology and telecommunications center in the world to have been built inside a free trade zone. With over 300 companies now operating from its premises, and with new partners and new phases of expansion coming online, Dubai Internet City is building a community of like-minded new economy companies, nourished by its own specialized support units.
Dubai Internet City has issued licenses to a host of global information technology companies. Microsoft, Oracle, Canon and Hewlett-Packard have already identified their long-term objectives here. Dubai Internet City allows 100 percent foreign ownership of companies, and laws relating to partnerships with local sponsors have been relaxed. Sales, company earnings and private income are exempt from any form of taxation. Companies can also take land on a renewable lease of up to 50 years and build their own offices. — (menareport.com)
