Gulf supplier of Halal meat products Co-Op Islami has expanded its food product lines with the launch of Halloumi cheese in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and regional markets.

Co-op Islami launched the Halloumi cheese products based on the results of a study carried out by the company, which showed that consumers in local and regional markets preferred Halloumi cheese.

Co-op Islami produces Halloumi cheese by using pure vegetarian rennet. The company also produces Feta cheese products, which is guaranteed to be free of animal rennet, Mozarella cheese and cream cheese.

Co-op Islami was set up by Dubai Cooperative Society in 1981 to provide halal meat products as per Islamic methods. Starting with frozen chicken, Co-op Islami expanded to provide burgers, sausages, kebabs and minced meat. In 1991, the Co-op Islami plant was set up in Jebel Ali Free Zone. — (menareport.com)
