(MEBG) – Commerce One, a leading e-commerce business solution provider, appointed its new Middle East management team in charge of launching the region's first B2B e-commerce portal this October, providing services to key GCC states, Egypt, the Maghreb, Turkey and the Levant.

Commerce One ME was launched earlier this year with an initial capitalization of $12 million, and established a strategic distributor operation partnership with a group of regional investors, led by The International Investor, a Kuwait-based investment bank.

"The team members were chosen for their considerable skills and knowledge in the com arena," said Prince Mohammed K.A. Al-Faisal, the Commerce One ME board chairman. Anthony Clarke has joined the Cl ME team as global alliance director and George Edwards will be the chief operating officer. Denis Roe was appointed chief financial officer and Ray Riley the sales director.

“This is a very important agreement for this region, as it will see the first portal of its kind launched in this area. Once the portal is up and running we look forward to expanding to more countries in the Middle East," said Terry Brown, general manager of Commerce One ME.

KnowledgeView, a provider of Arabic support solutions, content aggregation and trading for the Middle East marketplace, is also a stakeholder in Commerce One ME.
