Frontier Bundles, an Internet service provider in Utah, said they will pay $1,000 if the person selected completes the challenge successfully. "With the 30th anniversary of the first flip phone, Frontier is looking for a brave soul willing to ditch their smartphone for a week and go old school with nothing but a flip phone," said Frontier spokesperson Javier Mendoza in an email, reported USA Today.

The unique challenge has amassed over 30,000 applications, according to Mendoza. The experiment aims to reveal the impact on daily life when not using a smartphone. Hence, the selected candidate is required to record how long it takes to perform tasks like texting and checking emails, whether they will be late for appointments, writing down how many hours they would sleep without using smartphones, the company said.

For the challenge, the selected candidate will be offered a "survival kit" that includes a road map, a pocket phone book, a notepad with a pen and a pair of 1990s-era CDs, supposedly in line with the using the flip-phone which was popular in the 90s.
