Statoil AS said it has signed a memorandum of understanding for the sale of its 15 percent stake in Malasia's oil company MRC to the two other shareholders, Conoco and Petronas.

Statoil said that Statoil's share represents a processing capacity of almost 20,000 barrels per day at MRC's plant in Melaka, Malaysia.

The disposal will have no significant effect on Statoil's oil marketing and trading business in the region, Statoil said .
