The Siemens Communications Mobile Networks Group (Siemens Communications) conducted live demonstrations of its cutting edge products at Oman’s IT and Telecom exhibition, COMEX Oman, which took place in Muscat from 25 – 29 April 2005.
The demonstrations gave more than 10,000 delegates opportunities to experience the benefits of GPRS applications developed by Siemens.
During COMEX, Siemens featured live demonstrations of leading technology and enhanced applications, designed to make life easier and be fun everywhere, including Push to Talk, and E-mail Push applications.
“The Omani telecommunications and information technology market is growing rapidly as both public and private sector organisations encourage Oman’s population to get connected and enter the information age. Siemens Communications has long history in Oman and is committed to delivering the latest products and services to the people of Oman,” said Mr. Ralf Fueller, General Manager Siemens Muscat office.
Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) allows mobile phone users to communicate in a walkie-talkie style fashion. Regardless whether it is a person-to-person call or the communication with an entire group, PoC allows easy voice communication at the push of a button.
Another application that was demonstrated is E-mail/PIM push solution which will exceed the expectations of mobile network operators looking to offer dynamic and potentially lucrative services to their customers. Based on the open standard OMA DS, Siemens mobile office @vantage is an affordable alternative to the competitions’ proprietary solutions. Because it is open, it is compatible with a growing base of smart phones, PDAs and other mobile devices, as well as prevailing PDA/smart phone operating systems. What’s more, it offers full attachment downloading as well as editing and sending options, depending on the given device’s capabilities.
