Head of the Damascus Central Bank, Ghassan Lahham, recently stated that the governments of Syria and France have agreed to prepare an initial feasibility study for the construction of a Damascus underground railway.
According to the London based Al-Hayat daily, Lahham noted that Japan has also agreed to assist the Syrian government in preparing the metro study, which is estimated to cost 20 billion Syrian pounds (four billion dollars). — (MENA Report)
