DHL, the global leading express and logistics provider, is speeding into pole position as the official logistics provider for the Formula One™, hot on the heels of the past three successful years of partnership.
As a result of its day-to-day work and proven success, DHL has affirmed its right to be the logistics partner for all the teams and for the racing series as a whole, and is gearing up for the Bahrain Grand Prix this month.
Phil Couchman, Area Director, DHL Middle East said: “We are pleased to be partnering once again with the Formula 1 to make sure the Bahrain Grand Prix takes place without a hitch and to ensure that all the fans are able to see their favourite teams compete. In many ways DHL’s business and the Formula 1 live by the same goals – speed, precision, teamwork, and most importantly complete dedication. DHL works as one team across the world, and I can assure you everyone is raring to jump into action for the Bahrain Grand Prix.”
In 2007, DHL is defining a new standard of speed with the introduction of the DHL Fastest Lap Award, which recognises the man who sets the highest number of fastest laps over the course of the Formula 1 season. The trophy was recently unveiled at the start of the season at the Australian Grand Prix, where Kimi Raikkonen achieved the DHL Fastest Lap with a time of 1:25.235 minutes in a Ferrari with an average speed of 215.893 km/h. In Malaysia, Lewis Hamilton on McLaren-Mercedes stroke back with 1:36.701 minutes for the DHL Fastest Lap. The fastest of the fast man in Bahrain Grand Prix will be honoured at the closing ceremony.
“The DHL Fastest Lap Trophy recognises the very things that make Formula One: speed and organisation. The very things that DHL portrays. We rely on the most successful partner in this sector,” said Bernie Ecclestone, Chairman and CEO of Formula One Management.
The relationship with Formula One™ is a real and dynamic partnership for the global express and logistics leader. The catchwords “speed”, “hi-tech”, “perfection” and “teamwork” are characteristics of both DHL and the Formula One™ racing series.
As part of its partnership DHL is showcasing its express and logistics expertise to transport 33 racing cars, dozens of spare part engines and hundreds of tyres to all of the overseas races.
In addition, DHL delivers up to 300 tons of equipment for racing weekends. At the track, DHL provides a 24-hour service covering everything from the delivery of parcels and documents to customs services and shipments. DHL also transports much of the material for the Paddock Club, the exclusive VIP area.
