DHL Middle East, the regional leader in express and logistics services, recently donated a total sum of BD 2,000 to the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation in support of their participation in the Middle East & North Africa Regional Special Olympic Games scheduled to take place from the 2nd to the 9th of September 2004 in Tunisia.
The BD 2,000-cheque was presented to Mohammed Hassan Al Matooq, National Director for the Special Olympics Bahrain, by Phil Couchman, Area Director for DHL Middle East
DHL’s donation will contribute towards financing the forthcoming trip of the disabled athletes who will be representing the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Middle East & North Africa Regional Special Olympic Games, one of the most prominent sporting events in the MENA region. The 40-member Bahrain delegation will be traveling to Tunisia to compete with athletes from over 22 countries in a series of events including table-tennis, football, basketball, swimming and Track & Field.
Commenting on DHL’s sponsorship of the disabled athletes, Phil Couchman said that, “DHL takes pride in supporting such local initiatives which reinforce the company’s on-going commitment of encouraging and promoting activities that broaden the horizons of the young generation by exposing them to sporting activities of world class standards.”
