A contract to construct the first phase of infrastructure and road systems for the Dubai Maritime City (DMC) has reportedly been awarded to an unnamed contract.
The value of the recently awarded contract, whose implementation will begin with the construction of a central bridge connecting Dubai Maritime City to the UAE mainland, has also to be revealed by industry sources, according to Gulf News.
Initial preparations for the phase are already underway. "We have already completed the breakwater construction which was expected to be finished by the end of July," said Amer Ali, project manager of Dubai Maritime City.
The proposed bridge will serve as a passageway for Dubai Maritime City's tenants, as well as for clients which do business on the industrial zone.
Construction on the key transport route is reportedly expected to be complete by the first three months of next year.
The first phase of the development project will also include the shifting of the services area, according to industry reports. In addition, construction of the project's quay walls and related infrastructure systems is set to begin as well.
Establishment of roads, street lighting work on the upper bridge will also be undertaken during this first initial phase.
