Dubai-based Cellucom has signed an agreement with Kenya based Nakumatt and the global mobile phone brand Samsung to launch its branded reseller network Cellucom Xpress in East Africa.

Developed along the lines of Cellucom’s Val-U-Shop network in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Cellucom Xpress is a retailing franchise that aims at expanding the company’s market presence in East Africa. Under the agreement with Nakumatt, Cellucom Xpress will be present in 11 of their stores in Kenya – eight in Nairobi, two in Mombassa and one in Kisumu, stated a press release.

The 11 Cellucom Xpress outlets in Kenya represents the start of Cellucom’s expansion in East Africa. There are plans to increase the Cellucom Xpress outlets in Kenya and bring them to other countries in the region before the end of the year. An estimated 30 Cellucom Xpress outlets are to open in East Africa before the end of 2004.

Cellucom is a global enterprise engaged in the distribution of cellular communication devices and accessories from its base at Dubai Airport Free Zone. Its strategic location in the free zone has given a push to its exports into the emerging markets of Asia, Eastern Europe, South America and Africa. In addition to its wide dealer network, Cellucom has its own retail stores in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), bases in India and East Africa. — (menareport.com)
