Dubai 2003, the event that will host the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in September next year, has launched a new publicity initiative to help promote the event by sending promotional kits to the international diplomatic corps in the UAE and to key Federal Government Departments.

The move follows a briefing by Dubai 2003 organizers for senior representatives of the diplomatic corps, federal government and leading businessmen held earlier in the year in Abu Dhabi to outline arrangements for the event.

In September 2003 between 16,000 and 20,000 visitors are expected to attend what will be the biggest financial event to ever take place in the region. It will also be the first time that the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank have been hosted by an Arab country.

Ibrahim Belselah, general coordinator of Dubai 2003, said: “We received a tremendously positive response to our presentation in Abu Dhabi meeting and now want to build on that by encouraging departments of the Federal Government, embassies and consulates to display posters and other promotional materials about next year's meetings.”

“Dubai 2003 will have an enormous impact on the economy of the UAE and this new initiative is part of our campaign to ensure that all sectors of the economy – local businesses as well as international companies – can obtain real business benefits from the arrival of the world's financial leaders to the country.”

“The annual meetings provide the UAE with an unparalleled opportunity to showcase Dubai's financial, commercial and tourism capabilities to the international community.”

Preparations for the prestigious event are now well underway under the supervision of the Dubai 2003 committee that was established by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, UAE minister of finance and industry and chairman of Dubai 2003.

To ensure the success of the event several other committees have been created within the framework of the Dubai 2003 Steering Committee that is headed by Sheikh Hamdan. They include an organizing committee and 10 individual committees each looking after a specific element of the event. – (menareport.com)
