The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed a Polish commercial delegation Tuesday accompanied by the President of Poland, Alexander Kwasniewski.
The delegation was headed by the Minister of Finance, A. Raczko, and the President of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, Andrzej Arendarski.
"Our total exports worldwide reached $40 billion, although exports to the Middle East only reached $100 million. Our main market has always been Eastern Europe, where 75 percent of our exports go, and Germany alone occupies 30 percent of that total" commented Raczko. "We would now like to change these statistics, as we aim to increase our exports to this region to reach one billion dollars by 2005," he added.
The Finance Minister explained that this is the main objective of this visit to the region, which has already included trips to Saudi, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar will follow Dubai. He mentioned that Poland will be joining the European Union in May this year, and that Polish consumers will represent 20 percent of the European Market consumers, making Poland a window to the single European Market. He called on the business community in Dubai to explore the opportunities available in Poland, in order to develop and strengthen bilateral trade and commercial cooperation between the two sides. — (menareport.com)
