The Chief Executive of the Dubai Ports, Free Zones & Customs Authority, Sultan Ahmed Bin Salim, announced that the construction of the Dubai Fabrics City would begin by the end of this summer, reports Al-Bayan daily.
By providing a wide range of fabrics and textile products at competitive prices, the Dubai Fabrics City is assumed to lure more visitors to the Emirate, stimulating both trade and tourism in Dubai. The complex will extend over a five million square foot area.
Dubai is considered one of the most rapidly growing textile manufacturing centers in the Middle East, with $2.98 billion worth of imported textile products in 2000, constituting approximately 84 percent of the UAE’s total textile imports.
Today, Dubai is the single largest textile market in the world in terms of volume and variety. –(MENA Report)
