Dubai's Foodstuffs Trading Business Group, which was established in early October with the legal backing of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, elected a representative committee of 12 industry executives at DCCI yesterday.

11 representatives were chosen by secret ballot from nominations submitted by foodstuffs trading members of DCCI over the last two months, while a twelfth member was selected by a show of hands from three nominees who received equal votes.

Members of the representative committee will meet early next month to decide individual functions and responsibilities. Working to boost imports and re-exports, and encouraging more stringent health and quality standards to protect consumers, as well as more opportunities for Arab Nationals were among his priorities for the group.

A total of seven new Dubai-based business groups were set up in October and November. The new groups represent the land transport sector, pharmaceuticals and health equipments trading, building materials trading and manufacturing, printing and publishing, food and beverages manufacturing, exhibitions and conventions, as well as foodstuffs trading. — (menareport.com)
