Director of the Dubai Humanitarian City (DHC) Saeed Bin Suloom has announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) component of the United Nations Humanitarian Response Network (UNHRN) is to be hosted by the DHC.

UNHRN is intended to be a network of strategically located logistic depots, available and managed by UN agencies and non-government organizations, to pre-position emergency supply stocks in preparation for humanitarian emergencies.

As a strategy of the UN World Food Program, the UNHRN already includes units in the UN Logistic Base in Brindisi, the Asia Regional Response Facility (ARRF) in Cambodia and it is now establishing a reserve in Dubai as part of Dubai Humanitarian City.

DHC, which was launched in 2003, aims to host international establishments and organizations which work in the fields of food, agriculture, health, women and children, education and humanitarian services. — (menareport.com)
