Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) on Wednesday signed a 25-year contract with Business Bay to supply 350,000 tons of cooling over next quarter of a century.

The agreement was signed by Hashim Al Dabal, CEO of Dubai Properties, which manages the Business Bay project, and Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower at a signing ceremony held at Dubai Internet City.

This agreement is the first of a number of contracts in the pipeline between Business Bay and Empower. Eventually the district cooling giant will supply the entire Business Bay project, covering a massive 64 square kilometres of land, supplying over 350,000 tons of cooling over the next 25 years, according to a Press release.

“Dubai Properties is a strong supporter of energy-efficient practices,” said Hashim Al Dabal, CEO of Dubai Properties. “Empower’s cost-efficient, energy saving cooling solution will provide substantial savings to the residents of Business Bay and help keep Dubai a green city,” he added.

“We are pleased to enter into this long-term agreement to provide energy-efficient district cooling services to Business Bay, one of Dubai’s most ambitious projects,” said Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
