Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) today unveiled two of Dubai’s most ambitious and strategically important commercial projects at Cityscape 2006, the International Property Investment & Development Event.
The Dubai Trade Centre District and Dubai Exhibition City were revealed for the first time, providing visitors with the opportunity to see the extent and ambition of these unique developments.
Both developments have been designed under the supervision of Dubai World Trade Centre, involving the dramatic transformation of two prime real estate sites into an enhanced central business district and an entirely new entrepreneurial park.
“We take great pride unveiling these landmark projects today, which offer highly advanced infrastructure and prime locations for companies and residents from across the world,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.
“Businesses, investors and the public can now see the scale of these developments, designed to create ideal living and working environments within Dubai. Our aim is to create two business addresses that will be in the personal organiser of every major business group,” he added.
Designed to match the world’s highest standards of architecture by internationally-renowned Hopkins Architects, visitors were shown the first phase of the AED 16 billion Masterplan to create the new Dubai Trade Centre District at the heart of the city.
The project will see the generation of a new business district to rival the centres of Singapore, London and New York.
Starting at the historic Dubai World Trade Centre Tower at the base of Sheikh Zayed Road, the Dubai Trade Centre District will extend up to land adjacent to Emirates Towers, transforming one of the most notable areas in the city into a new lifestyle destination for the world’s international business community.
A premier office destination will provide an opportunity for many leading international companies to be headquartered there, alongside a range of luxury hotels and conference facilities for delegates attending international conferences and events.
Plans for Dubai Exhibition City – the region’s first integrated business, event, trade and retail destination – were also revealed for the first time today.
Dubai Exhibition City will provide a campus style office park, a major retail destination, eight international standard hotels, and a trade hub for international companies to permanently showcase their products.
The development will be one of the most strategically important commercial projects in the Middle East and is designed to offer a complete solution to business tourists, corporate organisations and the event industry.
Situated next to Dubai World Central Airport and adjacent to Dubai Exhibition World, the region’s largest exhibition and conference venue, Dubai Exhibition City will drive business opportunities for the whole region.
Dubai Trade Centre District
Phase one of the Dubai Trade Centre District will see the next phase in the development of the central business area, creating world-class offices and business centres within Dubai’s established Central business district.
The state-of-the-art business quarter will contain two hotels, 200,000 sq. m of grade A1 office accommodation, plus 1,000 apartments and 1,000 serviced apartments with related retail and car parking, offering a vibrant mix of public and private spaces, linked by air-conditioned pedestrian walkways.
The serviced apartments will provide a luxurious lifestyle for residents and visitors, managed by Dubai World Trade Centre, the UAE’s longest-serving residential service provider.
Using the highest standards in design, the buildings will be environmentally sustainable and will be carefully designed to the highest quality. All offices and residences will make the best use of naturally-lit interior spaces alongside landscaped terraces.
Residents and executives living within the district will have access to the World Trade Club, the city’s most prestigious business venue on the top floor of the landmark Dubai World Trade Centre Tower.
Dubai Exhibition City
Designed by the Cox Group, one of the world’s most prestigious and experienced master planners, Dubai Exhibition City has been created as a unique business and entrepreneurial park, which will enjoy the full advantage of its close proximity to the Jebel Ali port and the new Dubai World Central airport.
In addition to a light industrial zone and a campus-style office environment, the three square kilometre site be home to a retail park and business boulevard. The whole area will be landscaped-designed, to include water-ways, natural topography and parkland, allied to extensive road and rail transport networks to Dubai and elsewhere in the UAE.
DWTC is currently in discussion with a number of international investment and development groups, in addition to several major hotel companies.
“The rapid evolution of Dubai as a global business centre will be further advanced by the two projects we have announced today, which support Dubai’s evolution into a ‘City of the Future’,” added Al Marri.
“The world can now see how Dubai Trade Centre District and Dubai Exhibition City will add to the urban environment of Dubai and provide a striking architectural statement to the business community. A new type of executive lifestyle and template for business development that others will follow has been unveiled today, and we are immensely proud to be at the forefront of such major initiatives,” he concluded.
