October 7, 2010, Dubai, UAE — Dubai Women’s College (DWC), a Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) flagship institution, held a presentation on the emerging importance of Internal Audit for DWC Bachelor of Accounting students addressed by Mr. Adil Buhariwalla, Vice President Internal Audit at Emirates Group.
Mr. Adil focused in his presentation on the concept of Internal Auditing which has taken on a greater emphasis with the current economic crisis sweeping across the globe. “To become an Internal auditor, you should learn about every aspect of running a business,” he said.
“All organizations take risks to achieve their business objectives and successful organizations better manage their risks. Internal Audit is the professional partner that assists an organization in winning more often, through effective management of business risks,” he added.
Commenting on the event, Dr. Monica Gallant, DWC Business Chair said,“We at DWC highly value the input of our industry partners who add valuable practical insights into the importance and application of theoretical concepts. A large number of our Business students choose Accounting as a career and we hope to see an increasing number join the Internal Audit field.”
DWC BA Accounting students were encouraged with Mr. Adil’s presentation. Mr. Adil Buhariwalla, who is holding the position of Vice President Internal Audit at Emirates Group, is also a member of the Board of Research and Education Advisors of the Institute of Internal Auditors in USA, former Vice Chairman of the Internal Auditing Standards Board and ex- president and one of the founder members of the Dubai Chapter of The Institute of Internal Auditors,
